Traore: Seeks improvement
Senegal coach Amara Traore hopes the shock 2-1 AFCON defeat to Zambia works as a wake-up call for his charges.
The Teranga Lions, one of the tournament favourites, were undone by first half efforts from Emmanuel Mayuka and Rainford Kalaba, while Dame Ndoye pulled one back at Estadio de Bata on Saturday.
Traore admits his men were lacking in several areas in their Group A opener.
"We lost a battle, not the war. It'll wake us up, and that's going to help me a lot on the psychological front," he said.
"We turned the page on this match this morning, holding a debriefing on what needed to be fixed. My talk to the team was based on the fundamentals: passing, working as a unit..to be aggressive."
He added: "Quite a few of the players are competing in their first Nations Cup.
"We can't rest on our showing in the qualifiers, we have to do more."
Senegal next face Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday, with the event co-hosts edging Libya 1-0 in their respective opener.
