Drogba: Netted the decider
Ivory Coast coach Francois Zahoui insists he expected Sudan to test his star-studded charges in their African Cup of Nations Group B opener on Sunday.
The Elephants, one of the tournament favourites, laboured to a 1-0 victory over the East African minnows, with Didier Drogba's 39th minute header proving decisive in Malabo.
"I was expecting an ultra-motivated team against us, they produced a very very good game," said Zahoui.
"We've come here with ambitions for this competition. I'm already satisfied that we didn't concede a goal. We are always waiting for the Ivory Coast to produce fireworks but our aim is to win the cup.
"We'll go step by step, there are areas to improve in terms of the substance but it was a positive beginning. Mentally this win will relieve some of the pressure."
The Ivorians next face Burkina Faso on Thursday, with the Stallions losing 2-1 to Angola in their first match of the competition.
